On March 14, 2023 the opening event of the project "INFORMATION-INVESTIGATION-PROTECTION: Combating violence against women (PROTECT)" was held. It is implemented under contract BGJUSTICE-4.002-0011-C01 dated 26.10.2022 for the provision of financial assistance under a small grant outline of the Justice Program of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. The project is implemented by a consortium including the Chamber of Investigators in Bulgaria, the Research & Training Point Foundation (Sofia), and the University of Oslo (Norway).
At the event held in the Conference Hall of the National Investigative Service, more than a hundred participants gathered, among them representatives of the Investigation, Council of Ministers, Embassies. The meeting was opened by Mr. Ivan Geshev, Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Borislav Sarafov, Director of the National Investigation Service and Deputy-chief prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria, deputy the Minister of Justice, Ms. Maria Pavlova, Mr. Petko Petkov, Chairman of the Chamber of Investigators in Bulgaria, Mr. Georgi Petrunov, Project Manager, etc. The main activities of the project and the opportunities for professional training of the investigators were presented. A video welcome was also delivered by the Norwegian project team, led by Prof. Mei-len Skilbrey, Professor at the Department of Law, University of Oslo.
The duration of PROTECT Project is 18 months, starting in October 2022. and will continue until the end of April 2024.
